What is Detransfer.msi?
=======================

DeTransfer.msi is a new installer package of previously released version 3.27 of
DeTransfer.

So, if you have version 3.27 installed, there is no reason to upgrade.

The sole reason of new Installer is to make the installation possible on the newest
versions of Windows OS, including 64 bit version of XP and Windows 7.

Help file.
==========

Detransfer Help file requires WinHlp32.exe program, which is not part of Vista or Windows
7, and we are not allowed to distribute it, but you are able to download it freely from
Microsoft. See <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607> and follow links for download.

Also, particularly on Windows Vista, after opening the help file, you can receive the
message "there was a problem running the macro.(1037)". To fix it, double click
macro1037_fix.reg, located in DeTransfer installation directory.

Installing over old version.
=============================

To install over an old version:

1. Copy storereg.bat file to your hard drive and double click. It will create
Detransfer.reg file in the same directory.

2. Uninstall old version from Control Panel

3. Install DeTransfer by double clicking DeTransfer.msi and follow prompts.

4. If you created Detransfer.reg in step 1,double click Detransfer.reg and accept the
changes to registry. This will retrieve the connection settings previously defined.

If you want the installation to be used by other users, then you need to do the following,
after the installation is completed:

5a. For most Windows OS versions :
 Run storereg.bat, located in DeTransfer directory, specified during installation, usually
 C:\Program files\datataker\detransfer, while the user who originally installed DeTransfer
 is logged in.
 This will create Detransfer.reg file in the same directory.

5b. For Vista users, or when Detransfer.reg has not been created:
 Instead of running storereg.bat on this step, you need to run the following command from
 the command line:
   regedit.exe /e C:\detransfer.reg HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Datataker\Detransfer
 This will create Detransfer.reg file in C:\ directory.

6. Log off, and log on as the user who wants to use DeTransfer.

7. Double click on the Detransfer.reg file created above.

Note that DeTransfer connections and other configurations will be managed separately for
each user.
